Adding books

There are two ways to add a new title to your catalog, both available from the Add book button on the Library page.
Add by ISBN (recommended)
This is the fastest way to catalog a book: Vaultisse looks up the book's information for you.
- Click the arrow next to Add book and choose Add book manually — or click Add book directly to open the ISBN dialog.
- Enter the ISBN by typing it into the field, or click the barcode icon to scan it with your camera.
- Press Enter to add it to the list — you can queue up several ISBNs at once before submitting, which is handy when adding a stack of new arrivals.
- Optionally choose a location — if selected, a physical copy (stock) is created automatically at that location as soon as the book is found.
- Click Add. Vaultisse fetches the book's details (title, cover, description, authors...) automatically.
While each ISBN is processed you'll see its status next to it in the list:
- A spinner while it's being looked up.
- A green check once it's been added successfully.
- A warning icon if no book could be found for that ISBN.
- An error icon if something went wrong.
Tip: Vaultisse looks the ISBN up automatically using online book databases, falling back to a second source if the first one doesn't have the book. If a code still can't be found, you can always add that title manually instead.
Add manually
Use this when a book has no ISBN, or the automatic lookup couldn't find it.
- Choose Add book manually from the Add book menu.
- Optionally drag and drop a cover image.
- Fill in the name (required), a description, and the ISBN if you have one.
- Click Add. You'll be taken straight to the new book's detail page to fill in the rest — category, language, format, authors, and physical copies.
Either way, once a book is created you'll land on its detail page, ready to add stock and print labels.
